We are seeking a long term care nurse for residents who's goal is to be as independent as possible for the duration of their life.
Fair warning:
our resdients trigger the widest smiles and greatest joys in our staff! Relationships are quickly developed and the innermost desire to care for them is a sure thing.
What do nurses actually do? Besides getting attached to our sweet residents, our nurses start at 7 am and get report, provide insulin injections and may or may not pass meds.
Remember, we do provide med-aides for some assignments.
Skin is assessed, and a few notes may be written.
Very importantly, nurses are constantly watching for changes in residents and have autonomy to order labs, xrays and send to hospital for evaluations.
We allow full autonomy to make the decision because we know nurses are highly trained to make those judgments.
No need to call the DON to seek permission to send a resident out.
